DINT/LEATHER INFOCODE Visit the Multiterm Thesaurus on line! What is the DINT/Leather Infocode project?
The Leather Infocode initiative The Infocode project, sponsored by the European Commission in the framework of the MLIS (Multi-lingual Information Society) programme, created a working model of a multilingual thesaurus/databank relevant to the needs of one industry sector (the leather trade in this specific case). The thesaurus was then included as a demonstrator of the DINT principles so that other sectors can exploit it. The Leather Infocode partnership The partnership included: COTANCE as well as most European leather research institutes, namely: CTIC, AIICA, ELKEDE, SSIP, LGR, VAL. (See the GERIC page for details) The Commission linked the MLIS Leather Infocode project to the DINT project coordinated by TeleDanmark Consult (TDC) with The International Network for Terminology (TN) and Steppingstones Ltd (SSL) as partners. The DINT/Leather Infocode project The three domains addressed by the DINT/LI project are the terminology of quality management and quality assurance, the terminology of terminology, and the terminology of the leather industry. The main focus of the project was to produce a web-site and associated activities to assist the terminology work of international standards. The overall aim of DINT/LI was to address serious problems of lack of networking and lack of coordinated high quality terminology development.
