Dermagenesis is a very ambitious R&D project lead by UNIC and a number
of COTANCE members including the Secretariat. It has received the financial
support of the European Commission in the 6th Framework Programme. The
objective is to develop Biotechnology and investigating the generation
of animal skin artificially/in vitro. This would allow tanners in Europe
to get raw materials on demand and eventually eliminate defects once and
for all.
The Workshop will not only be about generating skin, but also on innovative
rapid response tanning techniques that have immediate application in the
fast changing world of niche production for fashion markets in the footwear
and clothing segments notably.
The Conference in Bologna will be the most important Communication event in the project. The Workshop is held under the auspices of COTANCE.
